Young workers and sustainable work life, with special emphasis on Nordic conditions

Work related injuries as well as musculoskeletal and mental disorders are common causes of reduced health, sick leave and early retirement from working life, also for young workers. The practical inclusion of young workers in working life should therefore take into account initiatives that improve work related health and increase motivation and work attendance.

This project will first analyze the state of the art concerning risk factors for reduced health, accidents and low work attendance in young workers. The method will be a systematic critical review of existing literature. The second step will be a survey of young workers’ work environment and health, educational systems and practice of authorities in the Nordic countries, and also a survey of existing projects with this focus. The third step will be discussion with authorities, politicians and dissemination of the results.
