In this project effects of efforts targeting primary prevention of health complaints and sickness absence in the recycling industry in Norway are investigated. The sickness absence in the recycling industry has been above the average for “Norsk Industri” over the last years. There has not been much research on work environment, health complaints and sickness absence in the recycling industry. There is a need to increase the knowledge in this area.
A sample of 650 employees in the recycling industry are included in this project. Data will be collected by a survey containing questions on work environment and health. The participants will fill out the questionnaire on three occasions during the project period, with one year between each time. Efforts directed towards primary prevention of health complaints and sickness absence will be developed after the first round. Information on sickness absence will be collected from the participating organizations records.
