Subject

Annually, there are over 120 000 new cases of occupational cancer diagnosed in the European Union, and around 80 000 deaths.

STAMI has placed the prevention of work-related cancer high on the agenda. The overall goal of this seminar is to provide a meaningful contribution to the prevention of work-related cancer through increased knowledge, sharing of experiences, and performing research at the international level.

Work-related cancer is the leading cause of work-related deaths yet represents a significantly preventable health-burden. New and updated knowledge on occupational carcinogens, exposure and causal relationships is therefore needed for the design and implementation of effective work environment protective measures.

The aim of the seminar is to highlight the current situation and research status of work-related cancer in Europe, and to gather a European joint force which will work on identifying knowledge gaps and advance the research on occupational carcinogens, occupational cancer and the understanding of causal relationships.
