The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) 60th Anniversary will be celebrated with the conference \u201cResearch into Action\u201d in May this year.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\t

The objective is to launch a bold new era in cancer prevention and control by translating scientific advances into impactful public health actions. Opening up for addressing the importance of preventing occupational cancer as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 60th Anniversary of IARC, The National Institute of Occupational Health in Norway (STAMI) has cordially been invited to advocate the importance of both closing knowledge-gaps within research on occupational cancer, and the importance of a heightened focus on prevention of occupational related cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\t

As the only institute from the occupational, safety and health research side, the Roadmap on Carcinogens partner has been invited to present both how to translate research into public health action and presenting findings and progress in identifying the preventable causes of human cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naturally, STAMI will focus on OSH and exposure to carcinogens at the workplace, the prevention of such exposure and how to best translate knowledge into policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are very much looking forward to being part of IARCs 60th Anniversary Conference, and we do see this as an excellent opportunity to address the importance of preventing occupational cancer,\u201d says STAMIs Director General, Therese N. Hanvold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She will hold an important key-note speech on the prevention of occupational cancer and the importance of implementing science into policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is both a result of our institutes high quality research on occupational cancer and the two Cancer Meetings in Oslo last September in relation to the Roadmap on Carcinogens Parter meeting. Where we addressed both science into policy and occupational cancer as such,\u201d Hanvold says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September, STAMI hosted the conference “Preventing Work-Related Cancer”<\/a> in Oslo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The institute will, as well, deliver a parallel session on occupational cancer and prevention, from research to company level. This session will focus on exposure and health outcomes, especially related to occupational exposure to crystalline silica, which is of importance across many different sectors and occupations over the globe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
