The evaluation committee\u2019s conclusion that STAMI is internationally leading in occupational health research affirms that we combine scientific excellence with high societal relevance \u2013 and that the institute produces research that is both in demand and applicable, STAMI&#8217;s Director Therese N. Hanvold says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 It\u2019s particularly rewarding that we score highly both in scientific quality and in the practical application and involvement of stakeholders in our research. It shows we\u2019re successfully connecting science with real-world needs, adds Research Director Dag Ellingsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A mark of quality<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The evaluation emphasizes that STAMI\u2019s publications are of high international scientific quality and that the institute\u2019s researchers significantly contribute to new knowledge that is original, relevant, and reliable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>STAMI is praised for conducting \u201cinternationally excellent\u201d research\u2014a rare distinction, according to Hanvold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A vital societal mission<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee highlights STAMI\u2019s success in combining original, reliable, and internationally relevant research with a clear societal mission. Four key areas were identified where STAMI has had significant societal impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work-related cancer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding of sick leave and disability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevention potential in the workplace<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health effects of nanoparticles<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 We have worked systematically for years to build expertise in these areas. Photo: Geir Dokken<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The evaluation also concluded that STAMI researchers have made substantial contributions to both economic and societal development, nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 That we contribute to both societal and economic development, in Norway and internationally, demonstrates the real value of our research. Our work goes beyond science \u2013 it\u2019s about working life, employees, and occupational health, Hanvold emphasizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 This is not just good news for STAMI, but for everyone striving for safe, healthy, and sustainable work environments worldwide, she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A clear path ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The evaluation committee recommends that STAMI continue to develop its research strategy with clear priorities and enhanced international collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also highlights the need to increase external funding, particularly through EU projects.<br><br>\u2013 We take this feedback seriously. We\u2019ve already begun efforts to strengthen our international competitiveness and build stronger, long-term partnerships, says Hanvold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strong foundation for the future<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>STAMI sees the evaluation as a strong endorsement of the institute\u2019s role in Norwegian research and working life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Hanvold and Ellingsen view the results as a valuable resource for future strategic work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 We will continue to strengthen our position as an international hub for work environment research.
